Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 August 2026

This policy explains what personal information I collect through imogenpenrose.com, how I use it, and the choices you have. I keep the amount of information I collect to a minimum, and I never sell it.

Who I am

Imogen Penrose is the author of the Bloomsbury Bookshop Mysteries. For anything to do with this policy or your information, you can reach me at imogen@imogenpenrose.com. For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am the data controller for this website.

Information I collect

When you join my mailing list

If you sign up for my newsletter or download a free book, I collect your email address and, where you provide it, your first name. Sign-up is always something you choose to do, and every email I send includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

When you use the contact form

If you send me a message through the contact form, I collect your name, your email address, and whatever you write in your message, so that I can read it and reply.

When you download a free book

Free books are delivered through BookFunnel. To send you your copy and help if you have trouble downloading it, BookFunnel collects your email address on my behalf.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, my web host keeps standard server logs (for example, IP addresses and browser type) to keep the site running securely. This website itself does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not run third-party analytics. A small piece of code checks your browser's language and time zone so that Amazon links can point you to your local Amazon store; this happens in your browser only and nothing is stored.

How I use your information

Legal bases for using your information

Under UK GDPR, I rely on your consent to send you marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing. I rely on my legitimate interests to respond to messages you send me and to keep the site secure, in a way that does not override your rights.

Who I share it with

I do not sell your personal information or share it for other people's marketing. I do use a small number of trusted services that process information on my behalf, each under their own privacy terms:

I may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Amazon links

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Some links on this site are affiliate links, which means that if you buy a book after clicking one, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. When you follow a link to Amazon, Amazon's own privacy policy and cookies apply.

Cookies

This website does not set its own advertising or tracking cookies. Services you choose to interact with, such as Amazon, may set their own cookies once you are on their site. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings.

How long I keep your information

I keep your details on my mailing list until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove you. Messages sent through the contact form are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and keep a reasonable record of our correspondence.

Your rights

You have the right to ask me to show you the information I hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and to withdraw your consent to marketing at any time. To exercise any of these, email me at imogen@imogenpenrose.com. If you are in the UK and you are not happy with how I have handled your information, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

This website is intended for adults and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle your information, I will update this page and change the date at the top.
